Exploring the notions of this invisible ‘Life Force’ that may occupy our physical spaces, Élan Vital uses interactive light artefacts interacting and responding to human movement.
The last of three iterations, Élan Vital uses narrative as a tool to outline human exploration, interaction and movement within a scenographic space. Responding to the architecture of a deconsecrated church, spatial light artefacts react to presence and movement. Beginning with playful interaction and eventually morphing to become one ‘life force’ with human presence, defining the often-invisible relationship we share with our environment.
Employing elementary computer vision to capture human motion, data is parsed into three dimensional volumes using the technique of ray marching and illuminated onto reconfigurable spatial constructs.
